Welcome!

What is tech editing?
Have you ever been happily knitting or crocheting along, following a pattern, only to get caught up and confused at the wording or wondering if you’ve got the right number of stitches? Technical editing is what prevents that by reviewing patterns to check for clarity, consistency, and correct numbers and charts.

Provided Services
I provide technical editing for both knitting and crochet patterns. Both new and experienced designers welcome! I’m happy to edit everything from socks, to blankets, to hats, to multi-sized garments. Let’s talk about it! I have experience with a variety of patterns, however, if we discover during the initial pattern review that I am not familiar enough with the technique or type of pattern you are writing, I am happy to refer you to another editor more suited to your needs.

My tech editing services include:

My goal is to help you provide the best pattern possible and therefore grow your following of makers. Hopefully we can work together to publish a pattern that will have knitters and crocheters recommending it to others and leave them eager for your next design.

Compensation
I charge an hourly rate with a minimum of 1 hour minimum and 15 minute increments thereafter. Typically, simple accessories and household items will require an hour or less. More complicated patterns like garments and multiple size options will vary based upon complexity. Please contact me for my current rates, a free estimate, and my scheduling availability.

All new clients receive a 10% discount on their first pattern edit in return for a testimonial I can share!

Hello! I’m Tara and I am so happy you are here!

I’ve been a maker my entire life and a fiber artist since 6th grade Crochet Club. Years of learning and playing with crochet, knitting, cross stitch, sewing, quilting, and more have given me experience with a vast array of patterns and techniques. Add my 10+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer and technical writer, and you can see how tech editing is the perfect merge of my love of numbers and my love of knitting and crochet.

When not editing or creating with a hot drink and curious kitten nearby, I enjoy as much time as possible outdoors skiing, hiking, camping, gardening, and disc golfing in my beautiful home of Colorado.

Technical editing knitting and crochet patterns is my way of supporting my fellow fiber artists and designers. Let me help you and together we can spread our shared joy of making and fiber arts.
